7 (important) relationship tips for women

couple
In a relationship, there is a need for emotional security and bonding.
1. He introduces you as his girlfriend
If you have been going around for some time and he, one day, just introduces you very comfortably to his friends saying, “Meet my girlfriend,” it’s a milestone. It means he has accepted you as an integral part of his life. Malini Shah, counselor and psychologist, explains, “Men normally do not want to give instant commitment so when he introduces you as ‘his girlfriend’ means he is comfortable about his friends knowing your importance in his life. They consider their friends’ opinion important. This shows a sense of acceptance for you and a commitment to let the relationship move ahead.”

2. You have a big fight… and make up
Familiarity leads to fights and all couples have fights —  nasty ones with abuses and allegations. There is something to be learnt about your relationship after the fight. When a couple makes up after a fight, it shows that  the partners want to resolve issues and continue. Clinical psychologist Saloni Sawnani says, “What makes these relationships strong for a lifetime is that no matter how major the argument there is always resolution and compromise. When the same happens in your relationship a sense of permanency sets in. Then you can be quite certain it is for keeps.”

9 traits women find attractive in men

For all the men out there wondering what women really want in a man it boils down to several key personality traits that women find attractive. Although there are literally hundreds of “traits” that can be used to describe a person, the following list is what the majority of women I’ve encountered and interviewed across the country express what it is they want in their “ideal man”.

Traits Women Find Attractive:

Ambitious

Women want to be with a man who is going somewhere or has the desire to be successful at whatever he’s pursuing. A man who has big dreams and goals and going after it is very attractive. Too often I hear complaints from women about their partners who have become “complacent”, sort of stuck in a rut. Having ambition shows characteristics of a leader, and most women are happy to support and follow a leader.

Attractive

Let’s face it, if a man is “attractive” to a woman then there is usually great chemistry and interest in the relationship. Women appreciate a man who takes care of himself and is concerned about his appearance. Men can also “let themselves go” and look dishevelled and worn down. I often hear women say that they don’t want a couch potato or a man with a beer belly. Looks do matter to women and even more so if she keeps

25 misconceptions guys have about sex

We don’t know what man spread the rumor that duration has anything to do with the quality of sex
Every once in a while, a woman encounters a man so thoroughly misguided about sex, it’s shocking that he’s managed to maintain his incorrect ways without a woman setting him straight. It would be impressive if it wasn’t so heartbreaking. And annoying.
Even men with the best of intentions are sometimes guilty of sexual missteps. Learn from their mistakes (yes, we’re generously assuming you’ve yet to make any) and be sure to take copious notes: These are 25 Misconceptions Guys Have About Sex.
If sex doesn’t last for hours, it’s not satisfying.
We don’t know what man spread the rumor that duration has anything to do with the quality of sex, but we do know we want to punch that dude in his overactive dick. Most nights, these marathon sessions just have us silently begging for mercy for our uteri and agonizing over how much sleep we’re losing. Save the into-the-wee-hours sex sessions for vacations, when you have nothing to do but bone the day away. On a daily basis, 15-20 minutes (not including foreplay) will do just fine.
Even spontaneous quickies are appreciated over an hour of mindless, machine-like thrusting. As long as your sex life isn’t subsisting on quickies alone, you’ll never be faulted for the occasional wham-bam-thank-you-mam.
Manscaping is a must.
Despite the myth glossy magazines continue to perpetuate, a man whose body is as hairless as a newborn seal is not more desirable. Work with what God gave you, not against it. When you insist on shaving your chest, arms, and all of your pubes, you look like you should have a vagina, and when the stubble grows in, we feel like we’re hooking up with a lazy transvestite.

11 simple weight loss tips

(CNN) -- Dawn Jackson Blatner, a registered dietitian and nutritionist for the Chicago Cubs, is trying to change the meaning of the phrase, "Treat yo'self."
Most people treat themselves by indulging in a gallon of ice cream or by lounging around the house, watching TV. Blatner wants "treat yourself" to mean exactly the opposite. Her definition is designed to give you more energy, help you lose weight and keep your body healthy.
"It's preplanning your grocery list. It's being in the grocery store and buying foods that nourish your body. It's eating mindfully," she told the audience at the Obesity Action Coalition's annual Your Weight Matters convention. "Those are really good things that when you do them, it's treating yourself right."
In other words, you deserve to feel good and look good, Blatner says. So putting in five or 10 minutes to plan your meals for the upcoming week or spending 30 minutes at the gym is the ultimate act of self-love.
"There's no bigger gesture in this world that says, 'You know what, Dawn? You matter.'"
Follow these 10 tips to "treat yourself" to a healthier, slimmer body:
1. Table. Plate. Chair.
Holly Hughes: My weight loss success
Every time you put food in your mouth, you should have three things, Blatner says: a table, a plate and a chair.
These three items ensure you're not sneaking snacks from the refrigerator late at night or gulping down 1,000

7 grammar rules you really should pay attention to

Semicolons should be used rarely, if at all. And beware dangling modifiers!
These rules were not meant to be broken.
These rules were not meant to be broken.

1. The subjunctive
This one is pretty simple. When you're writing about a non-true situation — usually following the word if or the verb wish — the verb to be is rendered as were.
So:
* If I was were a rich man.
* I wish I was were an Oscar Mayer wiener.
* If Hillary Clinton was were president, things would be a whole lot different.
If you are using if for other purposes (hypothetical situations, questions), you don't use the subjunctive.
* The reporter asked him if he were was happy.
* If an intruder were was here last night, he would have left footprints, so let's look at the ground outside.
2. Bad parallelism
This issue comes up most often in lists, for example: My friend made salsa, guacamole, and brought chips. If you start out by having made cover the first two items, it has to cover subsequent ones as well. To fix, you usually have to do just a little rewriting. Thus, My friend made salsa and guacamole and brought chips to go with them.

7 tips for keeping your man (from the 1950s)

Delicious, homemade dinners: A surefire way to keep your man.

1. Don't talk
Oh, did Mavis from next door insult your prize winning squash? Did little Timmy get sent home for starting fires again? That shooting pain in your left arm just keeps getting more intense? Keep it to yourself! Your man works all through his day and last thing he needs to hear about is yours. Refer to the first four commandments on "How to be a Good Wife" Edward Podolsky gives in his 1943 book, Sex Today in Wedded Life:
Don't bother your husband with petty troubles and complaints when he comes home from work.
Be a good listener. Let him tell you his troubles; yours will seem trivial in comparison.
Remember your most important job is to build up and maintain his ego (which gets bruised plenty in business). Morale is a woman's business.
Let him relax before dinner. Discuss family problems after the inner man has been satisfied.
In his 1951 book, Sex Satisfaction and Happy Marriage, Reverend Alfred Henry Tyrer has more to add to that. Do not ask for things. This is called "nagging":
I verily believe that the happiness of homes is destroyed more frequently by the habit of nagging than by any other one. A man may stand that sort of thing (nagging) for a long time, but the chances are against his standing it permanently. If he needs peace to make life bearable, he will have to look for it elsewhere than in his own house. And it is quite likely that he will look.
Unless your husband wants you to talk. Then don't you dare disappoint him. Says Reverend Tyrer:
"If [the husband] is intellectually inclined, and from time to time seeks to explain little things to her so that she may have at least a bare knowledge of what it is that interests him, and, without the slightest comment, she takes up again the fashion magazine she laid down when he commenced to speak, we may be pretty sure that there is going to be a 'rift in the lute' sooner or later in that house."

5 reasons sex on a first date is bad

Ask any woman and she’ll tell you that the reason you shouldn’t have sex on a first date is that the guy won’t call you back because he’ll think you are easy and will have lost interest.
That might or might not be true, but there are lots of other reasons why taking your clothes off with someone on a first date is a no no. Here are five reasons sex on a first date is a bad idea:

1. It’s awkward: The first time you have sex with ANYONE, no matter how long you’ve been dating, the sex is usually two things: one, heart pounding and exciting and two, awkward. But, it’s a lot less awkward if you know the person a little bit, and you know they care about you somewhat. Then the awkwardness fades quickly because there’s a comfort level, and a sense of friendship (or love) that makes it so much more fulfilling and fun.

2. Waiting is great foreplay: Having sex on a first date is like having dessert before dinner. How can you enjoy your delicious appetizers, salad and steak if you’ve already had chocolate chip cheesecake? You might enjoy it, but not as much. In other words, let the relationship build. It’s sexy and so much better when you take your time.
